THE MERSEY BEATLES GET ‘A LITTLE HELP FROM THEIR FRIENDS’ AROUND THE WORLD

THE MERSEY BEATLES GET ‘A LITTLE HELP FROM THEIR FRIENDS’ AROUND THE WORLD AS THEY RECORD SPECIAL LOCKDOWN VIDEO

Liverpool’s very own The Mersey Beatles brought music fans from around the world together to take part in a special music video.

The Beatles tribute band asked their followers, currently in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, to help recreate the Fab Four classic ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ – and fittingly on the 53rd anniversary of the song’s original recording.

And fans from around the globe – including those in the USA, South America and across Europe – sent in videos of them singing the song. The Mersey Beatles then collated the clips to produce a heart-warming collaboration.

Since posting the video on the band’s Facebook page -
facebook.com/themerseybeatles/ - the video has received thousands of views.

Brian Ambrose,
who plays Ringo in The Mersey Beatles, said: “We should be on tour at the moment, but like everyone else, due to the global pandemic we are at home.

“We thought it would be really nice to involve those who normally come and see us at shows in a special video. We came up with the idea of recreating 'A Little Help From My Friends' on March 30 – the anniversary of its original recording back in 1967.

“The message of the song, about getting through things with the help of loved ones, seemed to be perfect for these worrying times.

“It’s fair to say we’ve been blown away by the response. We received videos from around the world – from across Europe, South America and the USA – and as you can see everyone really threw themselves into it.

“The response since we posted the video last night (MONDAY) on our social media channels has been incredible. We’ve received so many kind messages from people saying how much the video brightened their day, and that is what we were aiming for.”

Formed in Liverpool in 1999, The Mersey Beatles – Mark Bloor (John), Steven Howard (Paul), Craig McGown (George) and Brian Ambrose (Ringo) – were the resident Beatles’ band at the legendary Cavern Club between 2002-2012 – clocking up more than 600 gigs.

Since leaving The Cavern, The Mersey Beatles have toured the world many times over and they will play a huge homecoming show in Liverpool on Saturday November 7th at The M&S Bank Arena’s Auditorium.
