Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Hey Jude in the studio where it was recorded

[Hey Jude back sleeve image]

Thursday 31st July 2008
8pm
Trident Studios, 17 St Anne's Court, Soho, London

Thursday 31st July is the 40th anniversary of the Beatles recording Hey Jude in Trident Studios.

To celebrate the anniversary the BBFC have organised a special tour of Trident Studios - 40 years to the day since Hey Jude was recorded.

The Beatles also used the studio for some tracks from the White Album and many solo and Apple projects.

Other famous recordings made there include David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust album, Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side and Carly Simon's You're So Vain.

The tour costs £10 per person and due to the small size of Trident studios the event is restricted to BBFC members and their guests. Payment is by cash on the day - but please e-mail the meetings organiser asap to reserve your place - numbers are very limited.

Nearest tube station is Tottenham Court Road.
For more details on the studio see their website: tridentsoundstudios.co.uk

The Beatles Mad Day Out - 40th Anniversary
Volume II - Exhibition

[Scene From The Thames, Photographer: Tom Murray]

27th July - 10th August 2008
The Park Gallery,
697 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow G41 2AB

Sunday 27th July 2008 is the 40th Anniversary of the day which is now known as 'The Mad Day Out – Summer 68' and Park Gallery is hosting an exhibition of signed limited editions of The Beatles by Scottish photographer Tom Murray.

Tom Murray will be appearing in the gallery from 1pm until 4pm on Sunday 27th July to discuss the momentous events of that Sunday 40 years ago when he was asked to do a photo-shoot of the most famous band in the world at the time. This photo-shoot was to be the last official shoot of The Fab Four prior to their split and is a unique reference to that special day when they were relaxed and having fun in London.

The exhibition continues until 10th August 2008.

Beatles Photographic Exhibition

26th July - 28th September 2008
Bodelwyddan Castle,
Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire LL18 5YA

Bodelwyddan Castle presents an outstanding collection of Beatles images from the National Portrait Gallery. The Beatles Photographic Exhibition, Saturday 26th July - Sunday 28th September, will provide visitors to the Castle with a unique opportunity to view rarely seen iconic images, which chronicle the changing personalities of both the group and its individual members.

The images on show are to include a mixture of well-known, rare and unseen photographs by famous photographers who helped to shape the group's public image. From early 1960s images of Paul McCartney and John Lennon as they rehearsed from one of Paul's High School exercise books (by Paul's brother, Mike McCartney) to a number of group and individual photos captured as they performed on Top of the Pops (by Harry Goodwin), their final performance at the Cavern (by Norman Parkinson), and at the studio whist recording the White Album (by Linda McCartney), which reached number one in the chart during December 1968.

A number of hands-on Beatles Family Activities are planned to take place for the duration of this exhibition, which will test visitors' creative abilities. Planned workshops include design, construct and create your own musical instrument from everyday junk, experiment with amazing combinations of colour to create your own psychedelic print and design and make your own musical heroes T-shirt inspired by the exhibition.
