Celebrating The Beatles at the Tower Ballroom

On the 10th November it will be 50 years since Sam Leach presented the Beatles at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton, Wirral.  A second show two weeks later on the 24th November is a UK mainland attendance record for a Beatles show.
 The Merseybeat Story at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton will celebrate these dates with a number of events on Sunday 20th November 11pm to 5pm. The day will consist of the following:-

Ray O’Brien (Beatles Historian) will conduct a New Brighton Beatles tour which will conclude at the site of the Tower Ballroom, at 1pm were The Mayor of Wirral and Beatles Promoter Sam Leach will unveil a plaque which acknowledges  that the Beatles played  the venue on some 27 occasions. Thanks are due to Wirral Borough Council who have funded and installed the plaque
 The tour is free – we will meet at the entrance to Fort Perch Rock for 11am.

Fort Perch Rock opens at noon with an exhibition of Beatles posters by the original artist Tony Booth.

 The Merseybeat Story at Fort Perch Rock starts at 1pm with BBC’s TV Star Paul Hayes and his band The Collection plus special guest Cliff Roberts. Topping the bill will be the Dominoes, compere for the day will be Harry Prytherch with Sam Leach in attendance.
The day will also see the launch of the Beatles/Merseybeat poster calendar 2012 and The Wirral & Liverpool Beatles Tour which is a new business and highlights Wirral’s connection with the world’s super group.  Many Merseybeat related personalities have been invited and the day will conclude with the Merseybeat Story Hall of Fame inductions.
