Beatles Day at the Workman's Club - Nov 5 2022

BEATLES DAY AT THE WORKMAN’S CLUB
Saturday, November 5th, 2022

2.00pm – LENNON & SHOTTON / JON WARD – €10

Lennon & Shotton is a short play about John Lennon and his best friend Pete Shotton. It follows the two teenage boys through their wild years at Quarry Bank High School in Liverpool and is completely based on fact. It will be performed by Padraic McGinley and is written and directed by Stephen Kennedy. The show will also include a set of songs from The Beatles played live by Jon Ward. The show has a total running time of 50 minutes. (Stephen Kennedy’s Beatle plays have been broadcast on the BBC, RTE and Radio Merseyside – and they have been staged in Dublin, Belfast, Liverpool, Dundee, Berlin
and Washington DC.)

3.00pm – THE BEATLES TABLE QUIZ – €40 per team
This hugely popular table quiz returns to the Workman’s Club on November 5th. It will be hosted by Denny and Steve from QUIZ-TASTIC. There will be an excellent mix of questions and lots of great prizes. More importantly – this quiz is about having fun.

The ‘Big Gig’ this year includes performances

from TWO amazing live bands! THE MOONDOGS (UK) last played the Dublin Beatles Festival back in 2013 when they were up-and-coming teenagers. That year they delivered blistering sold-out sets at the Workman’s Club, and the Grand Social, and we’ve been hankering to get them back to Ireland ever since. And BEATLES FOR SALE are without doubt one of the best Beatle tribute bands Ireland has ever produced. They cover all music periods from The Beatles and are well known for their attention to detail. Both of these bands have played throughout Europe, and both have headlined at the Cavern Club in Liverpool during Beatleweek. This gig is going to be a lot of fun. Bring your dancing shoes.

Mersey Boys: A Letter From Al Moran

This ten-minute concept film about a fictional encounter between an American professor and the young Beatles in a Liverpool pub will make its world premiere at the Beatles on the Beach Festival in Delray Beach, Florida on April 25, 2019. The film shall also be shown on April 26, 27 and 28.

Dublin's BEATLES DAY is taking place this year on Saturday, November 3^rd.  It will be at the Workman’s Club in Dublin city centre. 

 

The events on the day will include a two set show from the Scottish band REVOLVER.  In the first set – to celebrate the 55^th anniversary – REVOLVER will play the exact same set of songs The Beatles played in Dublin in November 1963.  And in their second set – they will play a wide selection of other songs from The Beatles. 

 

There will also be a performance of the play WHEN THE BEATLES CAME TO DUBLIN – and the hugely popular BEATLES TABLE QUIZ is back again.  Tickets go on sale this coming Wednesday (August 15) at 10am.

BEATLES DAY in Dublin is taking place this year on Saturday, November 4th.

It will be at the Workman’s Club in Dublin city centre. The events on the day will include a two set show from THE ROCKITS. They perform at the Cavern Club in Liverpool every weekend and they really know how to throw a party. The first set in the show will be a selection of songs from The Beatles and the second set will be the ‘Hits of the 60s’ - songs from The Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Monkees - and more!

There will also be a performance of Stephen Kennedy's play JOHN LENNON’S LAST DAY (as recently heard on BBC Radio 2) – and a competition to find the person in Ireland who knows the most about The Beatles – THE BEATLE BRAIN OF IRELAND.
