On February 19, 1963, The Beatles receiving a telegram from their Manager Brian Epstein congratulating them on Please Please Me going to number one in the NME chart, shortly before they were about to perform at The Cavern Club.
Today, "All You Need is Love", the Beatles tribute band from Brazil, led the celebrations at the Cavern Club marking that special anniversary!
The band, known as one of the best Beatles bands in Latin America, lived up to their billing, and the Cavern rocked to songs from the Beatles early years, although the setlist didn't include as many tracks from the Please Please Me album as might have been expected.
Notwithstanding, it feature songs that the Beatles could have performed fifty years ago, and the quality and the talent of the band was such that it was easy to close your eyes and imagine how it might have been on that special day.
As well as performing for an appreciative crowd, the band were recording songs for their second live DVD. Their first triple DVD, from 2010, was filmed in São Paulo and has sold more than fifty thousand copies, and over one hundred thousand people across Brazil have seen it.
The band also paid tribute to Tony Sheridan, by dedicating their performance of My Bonnie to him. It was one of many, many tributes that have taken place in the Cavern since the news broke of Tony's death. Certainly the Cavern Club will never forget him, or his place in Beatles history.

ReplyDeleteThey are a great band! Over the weekend I was very privileged to be invited by the Band to attend their recording session inside Studio Two at Abbey Road. They recorded 30 Beatles songs in 2 days!!! They did them very well too! A great band and great guys.
