BEATLES TRIBUTE ACTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO CREATE A UNIQUE GLOBAL RELAY ‘FROM ME TO YOU’ STARTING AT LIVERPOOL'S WORLD FAMOUS CAVERN CLUB
Beatles tribute bands from across the globe will join together to create a musical relay that will see the music of The Fab Four once again unite people all over the world - celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of ‘From Me to You’.
The ‘From Me to You’ relay - orchestrated by Liverpool’s award-winning Beatles Story attraction in conjunction with the world-famous Cavern Club - coincides with the 50th anniversary of the release of the band’s Number One hit, ‘From Me to You’.
The world’s greatest Beatles tribute bands will record their version of the song then pass the ‘baton’ on to the next country to do even better with the help and support of local fans and media.
The very best versions submitted will then be compiled into a music video that will be unveiled to the world on April 11th 2013 – the fiftieth anniversary to the day of the release of ‘From Me to You’.
This exciting global relay was officially launched at Liverpool’s world-famous Cavern club on Thursday night (March 7th) when house band The Cavern Beatles played a rousing version of ‘From Me to You’ in front of a packed house of Beatles fans from across the globe. Their crowd-pleasing rendition can be witnessed here:
The enduring legacy of The Beatles has created a network of remarkable tribute bands the world over but it is thought that the ‘From Me to You’ project is the first time that these global tribute bands will have joined forces to create a single video artefact spanning the continents.
‘From Me to You’ was co-written by Lennon and McCartney and was The Beatles first Number One hit in the UK. It was written while the group was on a coach on tour with Helen Shapiro. The title itself was inspired by the letters page in the NME called ‘From You to Us.
