Hello British Beatles Fan Club members!
As this social distancing continues to limit travel and attractions, the fan club committee have been exploring ideas to help our members get more value for their membership.
For those of you who were members of our Yahoo group, you will have noticed that the "improvements" from Yahoo are were not helpful and it is no longer a viable platform for interacting with each other.
Today we are sending out an email to all the members for whom we have an email address. It explains our ideas and has a link to quick survey to get your thoughts and ideas.
Please respond to help us understand what you would like or not like.
If you don't get the email and would like to get it, go to our contact page on the website and send an email to the webmaster and provide a current email address and we will resend to you.
Thank you,
The BBFC Committee

Paul has been busy- Karaoke, new album, walking in the park
It has been a two weeks tracking Paul McCartney. He's been in the news since June 9th with so many different things.
June 9: Paul toured Liverpool with James Corden surprising fans at every corner. In town to film a Car Karaoke segment for CBS, Paul even visited his old house on Forthlin Road, going inside for the first time in years.
Later that same day, he gave a concert to a lucky 50 people in the Philharmonic Pub debuting a song that he said would be on his new album.
June 10: Paul's Facebook and Twitter accounts started dropping visual hints about the new album with a series of images daily all week.
June 16: Paul gives a private concert at his nephew's wedding reception.
June 18: Paul's birthday! Happy 76th Paul. The internet was flooded with birthday wishes for Paul.
June 19: Paul officially announces that a double A side single from his new album would be released on June 20 with the full Album, titled Egypt Station, to be released in September in multiple formats.
June 20: As promised, the two singles were available on multiple outlets to download. 'I Don't Know' is a ballad and 'Come on to Me' is a more energetic tune with a catchy beat. The full album will contain these two songs with 12 more. The album artwork and the title are from a painting Paul did years ago called "Egypt Station."
June 20: Paul and his wife, Nancy, were spotted strolling through Hyde Park enjoying the weather and, no doubt, the buzz about his new songs.
On the same day, in an interview in Variety Magazine, Paul is quoted saying he will be doing some mini-gigs in July! No hints were given as to where these gigs will be, so keep your eyes and ears open for news about these. He also gave some insight into the remastered White Album that will come out with the 50th anniversary of its release.
June 21: This Thursday (technically early Friday morning) on The Late Late Show hosted by James Corden, the Car Karaoke segment filmed by Paul and James on June 9th will be aired. Available in CBS, it won't be viewable by all countries, but as soon as a version shows up on YouTube we will provide the link. Below is a teaser that hopefully everyone can see.

Legendary Beatles REVOLVER Cover Beatles in a brand new 2016 version
GoodTimes - the German magazine for music from the 60s to the 80s - is celebrating 50 years of REVOLVER, with five different cover pages of the Beatles. Learn more from the press release below.
----
"It was 50 years ago today" when Klaus Voormann designed and completed the cover of the legendary Beatles album REVOLVER. And now, the artist has re-created his famous work once again, by exclusively working for the German music magazine GoodTimes.
In the early days of August in the year 1966, the seventh Beatles album REVOLVER was released. Musically matured, the four musicians from Liverpool proceeded to say goodbye to the more lightweight Beat music that had established their world wide reign during the 1960s. REVOLVER (featuring songs like “Eleanor Rigby“, “Taxman“ or “Tomorrow Never Knows“ as well as “Good Day Sunshine“ or “Yellow Submarine“) was revolutionary for the band. It also pointed the way and in fact turned out to define the style of a musical direction which later came to turn into Psychedelic Rock.
Matching the detachment and multi-layered character of the music was a task achieved by Klaus Voormann, a fellow friend and companion of the band from their Hamburg days. The musician and graphic artist, who was often called „the fifth Beatle“, has become a famous part of musical history by illustrating the legendary album with a cover that happened to be just as legendary. In his innovative and revolutionary black & white collage where he mixed line drawings and cut-outs, he enhanced the main motive - the heads of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – with highly detailed photo snippets in varied moods. Thus, Voorman revolutionized the era’s more plain and artless design of LP covers with simple photo shots of the artists, and he inititiated a truly massive innovative impulse in this artistic field.
This is how Klaus Voormann managed to capture the unconventional, complex vibe of this golden age of creativity, which also characterizes the music of this highly experimental album. The REVOLVER cover is the most significant work that he has ever created. For this, he was honoured with a Grammy award, and he inspired many colleages to dare and try new ways in cover design..
The now 78 year-old artist once again retreated to his workshop in Tutzing right by Lake Starnberg in order to newly re-design the REVOLVER cover for its golden 50-year jubilee. This is how this series of five graphic creations took shape, which will be exclusively issued on the July edition of the music magazine GoodTimes – in cover illustrations as well as posters.
"Needless to say, everyone here at the publisher’s office is proud and grateful that Klaus Voormann spontaneously took part in making this project happen", says Fabian Leibfried, the magazine‘s chief editor, who is determined to serve the music of the 1960s to the 1980s. "There will be five variations of the cover – each of the Fab Four on their own as well as all the four of them together. Respectively, the illustration on the cover matches the one on the giant poster in the centrefold of the magazine."
Starting on Friday, the 15th July 2016, the GoodTimes edition 4/2016 with the five issue variations will hit the shops. It will feature a comprehensive interview with Klaus Voormann on the history of the cover and all its consequences.

Terrific Podcast about the Beatles with a mention of the BBFC
Last summer a group of fans including the team who run the fan club were going out for a Mad Day Out exploring Beatles locations. Just days before our membership secretary had randomly met a man in Marylebone Station who had been asking questions about the Beatles' connection with the station. She discovered this man, Christian Swain, was doing research of a podcast for The Rock and Roll Archeology Project and she invited him and his partner Amy to join us on our planned Mad Day Out.
They did join us and and late in the day they also interviewed us each about our personal discovery of the Beatles and the impact to our lives.
Fast forward 6 months and the excellent podcast is on the air and he has reached the Beatles in his timeline.
We highly recommend this podcast about the history of Rock and Roll and we are very proud that some of our comments from those interviews are included in episode 8 which was just released.
Visit their homepage to list to all the episodes.

BBC Four is asking for help from fans
Beatles fans, here is an opportunity for you to share your memories. We received the following message from Rebecca Stewart from BBC Four.
"I am working for a production company that is making a new documentary called The People's History of Pop for BBC Four, due to air in 2016.
We are currently crowdsourcing photos and audio/video of people's cherished music memorabilia - ticket stubs, diary entries, teen band recordings, wrist bands, rare footage and more - to tell the stories of British rock and pop music from the fifties to the noughties through the memories of fans that were there.
I'm currently trying to find some memorabilia of all things Merseybeat (including the Beatles) and I wondered if you would be willing to share this on your website to see if your online fan community would want to get involved.Everything sent in to www.phop.co.uk will be part of an incredible online archive and will culminate with a television series for BBC FOUR, featuring the best of what's been uploaded to the site."

Cilla 1943-2015

Paul with Cilla |
Cilla was a huge friend of The Beatles, a childhood friend of Ringo, singing at the Cavern and having songs especially written for her by John Lennon and Paul McCartney such as "Love Of The Loved", It's For You" and "Step Inside Love". George Harrison also wrote the songs 'I'll Still Love You' and 'The Light That Has Lighted The World' for Cilla. Her early career she was managed by Beatles manager Brian Epstein resulting in two massive No.1 singles and a dozen more Top Ten hits, all produced by Beatles A&R George Martin. She went on to be a bigger star on TV.
Some of us at the BBFC were lucky enough to meet her, most recently at the Tom Murray event in London a few years ago. She was very down to earth and someone you could easily talk to. She will be missed by millions.
God bless you Cilla, you will never be forgotten.

Is that you in that photograph?
Were you outside of Buckingham Palace the day the Beatles visited to collect their MBEs in October 1965? The first photo is of a crowd of women wrangling with police outside Buckingham
Palace as the Beatles arrived. It could be you.
Were you a fan hanging around when the Beatles were filming A Hard Day's Night? The second photo from 1964 is of school girls trying to get a glimpse of the Beatles through a train window during the filming. Was that you?
You can view the two photographs by following this link. If you or someone you know is in either photo, the reporter would love to hear from you. Just click the big blue button on the site to contribute to the story.
The reporter, Laura Barnett, is also interested in club members who have other photographs
of themselves with the Beatles, or in the background behind the Fab
Four. If so, you can email her directly by clicking here.
