September 4th is a vital day for Beatles fans – It’s the 50th anniversary of the first recording of The Beatles’ debut single ‘Love Me Do’ with Ringo Starr on drums. It’s the official beginning of a historic musical journey taken by The Fab Four that changed the world forever.
It also means there’s now just one month to go until Beatles fans from all over the world come together in Liverpool on October 5th in the hope of smashing a Guinness World Record to commemorate the release of The Beatles’ debut single on an unsuspecting world.

“The Beatles are record-breaking royalty, not only are they the best-selling music group in history, the band holds the honour of being the creators of the first song ever beamed into space! Thousands of people are expected to descend on the city on October 5th to be part of Beatles history. Choirs, school children, Beatles fans and tourists from all over the world.
The record for the most people singing ‘in a round’ currently stands at 897 - singing ‘Danke Schoen’ as organized by Groupon (USA) in celebration of the 25th anniversary ofFerris Bueller's Day Offin Chicago, Illinois, USA, in October 2011.
The record attempt is part of a year-long programme of events across Liverpool City Region to mark ‘Liverpool Celebrates 50 Years Of The Beatles’.
Duncan Frazer, Commercial and Marketing Director of the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LCR LEP), which encompasses Tourist Board VisitLiverpool, added: “This is a very important year in the history of The Beatles and as the Tourist Board we are delighted to be supporting this event as part of the special Beatles anniversary. The Beatles continue to play a vital role in the Visitor Economy and attract thousands of fans from across the world every year. We would encourage people to register to participate so they, too, can play their part in what we hope will be a record-breaking event for Liverpool.”
The record-breaking attempt has been created by the award-winning Beatles Story attraction and Albert Dock and is supported by Liverpool City Council.
